Background: |
Russian-born pianist Mikhail Korzhev
studied at Moscow Conservatoire College, where he performed
extensively both as a soloist and with orchestra in Moscow’s
most prestigious halls. In 1991, he was invited to the United
States as a featured recitalist for the Southwestern Youth
Music Festival. While in the US he auditioned and was admitted
with top scholarship to University of Southern California
to study with Daniel Pollack. Since graduation he has performed
with throughout the US and Europe, and is a staff member with
the Department of Music at California State University, Fullerton.
His performances have received high critical acclaim by both
local and foreign press.
“Korzhev made many friends in the audience…a
Ravel Ondine so perfect in style that one wanted to hear the
rest of Gaspard de la Nuit right there and then. Accomplished
and assured, Korzhev gave a noble and refined reading of the
Rachmaninoff First Piano Concerto…subtleties of phrasing,
tone and technique…elicited a standing ovation.”
–Palos Verdes Peninsula News.
“The Young Russian pianist…displayed a notable
technical mastery which allowed for passionate moments of
ardent lyricism as well as wonderful purity and fluency…
The audience praised his performance with such enthusiastic
applause as to encourage him to perform several encores.”
–Momento-Sera, Rome.
“Korzhev’s belongs to that exclusive club of
super musicians…he already performs like a keyboard
legend…he is a major talent.” —Salt Lake
Tribune. |
