Background: |
Vance D. Wolverton
a specialist in vocal music education, conducts the Women’s
Chorus and is department chairman. Formerly at the University
of New Orleans, he was also assistant conductor of the New
Orleans Symphony Chorus. He holds degrees from the University
of Iowa and Wayne (NE) State College. He has done additional
graduate study at the Peabody Conservatory of Music (Baltimore),
Drake University (Des Moines), the University of Missouri
(Kansas City) and at UCLA. He is a member of the American
Choral Directors Association, the Music Educators National
Conference and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
In 2001 he was awarded the Eunice Skinner Memorial Award for
“Excellence in choral music education” by the
California Music Education Association.
Jesse Knowles is director of
the Men’s Choir at California State University Fullerton.
Knowles is also director of choral activities at Troy High
School in Fullerton. As a performer, Knowles has sung with
the Pacific Chorale, the John Alexander Singers, the Angeles
Chorale, and the William Hall Master Chorale, and performed
roles in: Dido and Aneas, The Abduction of Figaro, Songs of
Travel, Les Miserables and Pirates of Penzance, along with
solos in Messiah. He is a Cal State Fullerton alumnus. |
