Internationally acclaimed clarinetist
Håkan Rosengren appears regularly as soloist
with orchestras throughout Europe, with recent performances
with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic,
Porto Chamber Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony, Royal Stockholm
Philharmonic, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, among others, and
collaborating with conductors Neeme Jarvi, Christopher Hogwood,
and Esa Pekka Salonen. In addition to his performances with
orchestras he has performed at chamber music festivals in
Santa Fe, La Jolla, and Round Top Texas, and given recitals
in China, Korea, the U.S. and throughout Europe. Rosengren
studied at the State Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden
and the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp, Belgium. Sponsored
by the Fulbright Commission and the Scandinavia America Foundation,
he studied at the University of California with James Kanter
and Mitchell Lurie. He has received first prize awards in
competitions sponsored by the Los Angeles Arts Council, UNESCO
International, Concert Artists Guild International New York,
and the National Endowment for the Arts. Rosengren has recorded
on variety of labels including Accord, Musica Sveciae, Caprice,
Nytorp, Phono Sveciae, and with Sony Classical the Nielsen
Concerto, Esa Pekka Salonen, conducting. Rosengren is currently
professor of clarinet at California State University, Fullerton.
Pianist Anne Epperson debuted at the age
of twelve with the New Orleans Philharmonic and has since
appeared throughout the U.S. with orchestras and in recital.
She has been a featured performer and coach at the Aspen Music
Festival, Chamber Music North West, the Scotia Festival, the
Taos Chamber Music Festival and the Pensacola Classicfest,
and has appeared as a collaborative partner in concert with
distinguished soloists in North and South America and in Europe.
She has recorded for Vanguard, Musical Heritage Society, Nonesuch,
Centaur and Koch International, and has professionally produced
and edited recordings for Nonesuch and Azica recording companies.
A scholarship student at the Juilliard School, she also attended
Louisiana State University and the University of Southern
California, where she was appointed staff accompanist for
the Jascha Heifetz master class. She is currently on the artist
faculty of the Sarasota Music Festival and the Music Academy
of the West in Santa Barbara, CA. In 1985 Epperson joined
the faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music to create
and serve as head of the Collaborative Piano Department. She
is also staff accompanist for the International Violin Competition
of Indianapolis and has been coordinator of pianists for the
American String Teachers Association National Competition.
Ernest Salem, violinist, is currently a
professor of music at California State University, Fullerton.
He has performed in concerts and recitals across the U.S.
and presented master classes at various universities and colleges.
Active as a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area, he
has performed with the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra, Long
Beach Symphony, Asia American Orchestra and South Coast Symphony.
Formerly Concertmaster of the Wichita and Las Cruces Symphony,
Salem has also served as principal second of the Minnesota
Opera Orchestra and assistant concertmaster of the Texas Chamber
and Texas Opera Theater Orchestras. As a chamber musician,
Salem has been first violinist with Wichita State’s
Fairmount Quartet, a member of the College of St. Benedict’s
chamber ensemble “Pastiche,” and violinist with
New Mexico State’s Delphian Trio. Currently he is violinist
with the Premiere Trio and performs regularly as a chamber
musician throughout Southern California. Salem holds degrees
from Michigan State University, the University of Houston,
and the University of Minnesota. Included among his teachers
are Yfrah Neaman, Fredell Lack and members of the Juilliard
Quartet. |
