Program: |
Performing the music of Purcell, Popper, Haydn,
Vivaldi, Rossini and the Beatles. Also on the program, dancer
Kiha Lee will perform to pre-recorded cello music of “Sometimes
I Dream.” |

Background: |
This 15-member ensemble offers an eclectic
evening of cello music under the baton of guest conductor
Joni Steshko, associate conductor of the Colburn Chamber Orchestra.
Steshko has earned degrees from UCLA, USC and Cal State Fullerton,
has guest conducted the Chapman Symphony, Chamber Orchestra
and Chapman Opera, was assistant conductor of the USC Symphony,
Chamber Orchestra and USC Opera in addition to being the manager
of orchestra programs at USC’s Thornton School of Music.
She has studied conducting with Daniel Lewis at USC, Murry
Sidlin at Aspen Music Festival, Alexander Politshuk and Georgy
Ergemsky at St. Petersburg Conservatory and Jon Robertson
at UCLA. In 1991 she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship.
The CSUF Cello Choir regularly offers four concerts a year
on campus and has performed at a variety of venues throughout
Southern California. Known for its flexibility, the ensemble,
due to the cello’s four-octave range, regularly performs
a wide variety of repertoire. |
