General Info: |
Miss Mobile is a reflection on our public
and private selves by one Slovene performance artist and 40
audience members with cell phones. Bring your cell phone,
and you may be asked to call a friend to engage in a conversation
heard by the entire audience.
Emil Hrvatin is a theatre director and performance artist
who manages the non-profit organization Maska in Ljubljana,
Slovenia. In this performance of Miss Mobile, Hrvatin asks
audience members to call their friends on mobile phones and
will even lend someone a phone to do so. The content of the
conversations vary but the questions Hrvatin asks are principally
about politics and people's relationship to it. In the end,
audience members vote for "Miss or Mister Virtual Character."
Hrvatin is the artist-in-residence at the Grand Central from
May 1 through May 20, 2003.
Miss Mobile will also be featured at Highways Performance
Space, 1651 18th St., Santa Monica on Sunday, May 18, 2003,
7:30 p.m. |
