Background: |
French guitarist Philippe Villa is a specialist of the Romantic repertory, and frequently performs on both Romantic and modern instruments at his concerts. In 1991, Villa won the Gold Medal Award at the Bordeaux International Festival of Young Soloists, and a year later was unanimous acclaimed winner of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation competition. Now in addition to teaching at the National School of Music in Niort (France) and adjudicating at international guitar competitions, Villa presents solo, chamber and piano-guitar recitals throughout Europe and the United States.
Glowing reviews have followed his performances. Recent ones include “Villa knew how to communicate his passion and his love for the beautiful through his strong intensity and deep sensitivity” in Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace and “magician of the guitar” by Nord Éclair.
Philippe Villa plays exclusively on Savarez’s Corum and New Cristal strings. |
