Local residents guide retirees group based at Cal State Fullerton.
May 7, 2007 :: No. 195
Brea resident Barbara Talento, CSUF emeritus professor of nursing, was installed Saturday as president of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), a university support group of more than 800 retired and semiretired individuals dedicated to the pursuit of lifelong learning at Cal State Fullerton.
Also serving on the 2007-08 board are: Anaheim residents Sharon Graham, treasurer, and Bob Forrester, vice president of facilities; Fullerton residents Fredrick Von Coelln, vice president of programs, and Elaine Mitchell, vice president of special events; and Orange resident Ken Kamber, vice president of membership services.
Each officer serves a two-year term — with the exception of the president, who is elected on a yearly basis — which began May 5 with OLLI’s installation luncheon at the Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia.
Continuing their terms are: Marilynn Bates, secretary; Bob Nixon, vice president of administration; Ruth Symonds, vice president of communications; and Andy Washington, vice president of external relations.
Newly elected trustees are: Anaheim resident John Pinson, Brea resident John Blaydes, Fullerton resident Joyce Ono and Placentia resident Henry Giano. They join Jean Franks, Angela Friedman, Mitzi Herman, Richard Kraft and past president Charlotte Fox.
