CSUF Alumni Director Elected to CSU Systemwide Council
Carlos Leija of Fullerton Is Among Leaders Representing Two Million Alumni
July 31, 2007 :: No. 16
Titan alumnus and Fullerton resident Carlos Leija (B.A. psychology ’91), executive director of alumni relations at Cal State Fullerton, has been elected to the executive committee of the CSU Alumni Council to serve as alumni directors’ representative.
As the voice for alumni directors from the 23 Cal State University campuses, Leija will chair the directors’ quarterly business meetings and attend CSU Board of Trustees and Alumni Council Executive Committee meetings.
Leija joined the university nine years ago, yet has been active with his alma mater for more than a 15 years, serving as president of the CSUF Alumni Association in 1997-98. Prior to Cal State Fullerton, he maintained a chiropractic practice in La Habra.
As an undergraduate, Leija was active in student government, Sigma Pi fraternity and other campus activities. Following graduation he served five years on the CSUF Alumni Association board of directors. He also served on the CSU Alumni Council as a volunteer.
About his new position, Leija said: “I see this as an outstanding opportunity to serve in a leadership role for both the Alumni Council and Cal State Fullerton. It adds to the university’s visibility and prominence on many levels and different arenas.”
Dedicated to promoting and protecting the interests of the Cal State University system on behalf of its two million alumni, the CSU Alumni Council works on two levels: to enhance the ability of each campus alumni association to actively engage its alumni to support university priorities; and to utilize the combined resources of the 23 alumni organizations to advocate for and advance the mission of the CSU.
