Campus Welcomes More
than 32,000 Students for Spring
CSUF opens semester with record spring
enrollment.
Feb. 2, 2006
Cal State Fullerton kicked off the spring
semester officially on Saturday, Jan. 28, with 32,571 students
enrolled that first day — approximately 1,300 students
higher than first-day figures for spring 2005 and a record
high for such figures in spring.
Last fall's opening-day enrollment
was 33,299 students, which eventually grew to 35,040 at census,
making Cal State Fullerton the most populous campus in the
23-campus California State University system.
“This is a strong start for the
spring semester.'
If the typical pattern holds, the spring's
enrollment is expected to also increase. Spring 2005 enrollment
grew to 33,413 at census.
“This is a strong start for the spring semester,” said
Ephraim Smith, vice president of academic affairs. “Our
enrollment figures have been strong for a number of years
and figures for fall 2006 are equally strong.
“Admissions for nearly all of our programs have closed,” he
noted. “So far, we have received more than 38,000 applications
for fall 2006, including 27,274 from freshmen applicants.”
