Cal State Fullerton and Latino Advocates for Education will team up for the fifth consecutive year to honor veterans past and present at the 10th annual “Veterans Day Celebration: A Tribute to Mexican American Veterans.” |
Who: |
More than 130 Vietnam War veterans will be recognized at the event, which will also feature color guard units, bagpipers and singers. Orange County Supervisor Lou Correa and fellow CSUF alumnus Carlos Bustamante, a Santa Ana City Council member, are among elected officials expected to attend the program. |

Books: |
Honorees will be presented with the book “Strength and Honor: Mexican Americans in the Vietnam War,” which profiles 139 Vietnam War veterans. The book also will be available for purchase by the public for $25. Three authors are scheduled to attend and sign their books. They are: Lea Ybarra, author of “Vietnam Veteranos: Chicanos Recall the War”; Edward Morin, who wrote “Valor and Discord — Mexican Americans and the Vietnam War”; and retired Lt. Col. Henry Cervantes, who penned “Piloto: Migrant Worker to Jet Pilot.” |

Vietnam War medals, photographs and other memorabilia will be displayed. |
