in Global Navigation

October 2, 2006 :: No. 32

What: “Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS): The Future of Global Navigation in Civil Aviation” is the topic of next week’s CSUF College of Engineering and Computer Science Technology Breakfast.
Who: Global Positioning System expert and author Mohinder Grewal, CSUF professor of electrical engineering, will give a presentation about the next phase in global navigation.
When:

Tuesday, Oct. 10
7:30 a.m.

Where:

Fullerton Marriott
2600 E. Nutwood Ave., Fullerton

Cost:

$10; free to members of the ECS Affiliates
Reservations required at 657-278-3362. Seating is limited.

Background:

The United States has GPS, the Europeans have Galileo, and the Russians have
GLONASS. Each, along with Japan, Canada, China and India, has its own space-based augmentation system for ensuring signal integrity. What if civil aviators around the world could rely on multi-constellation receivers to receive and process GPS, GLONASS and Galileo signals to complement and enhance each other? Grewal will discuss these questions and more. The professor is a registered professional engineer in California, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a Fellow of the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering and a member of the Institute of Navigation. This is the first of four technology breakfasts planned for the 2006-07 academic year.

Sponsor: The series sponsor is the Disneyland Resort.
