The main diamond of the Titan softball complex has been named Anderson Field after a large capital gift was presented to Cal State Fullerton by a pair of Yorba Linda residents.

Brothers Jeff and Dennis Anderson, and their wives, Michelle and Vicki, respectively, have contributed to the university’s softball and baseball programs for the past 10 years.

“We have enjoyed our association over the years and are proud to be recognized by the university,” said Jeff Anderson, on behalf of his family.

“It’s always gratifying to be able to honor longtime supporters like the Anderson family, and especially so as we name the home of our national-caliber softball team Anderson Field,” said Cal State Fullerton President Milton A. Gordon.

“We would like to thank the Anderson family for their generosity. We appreciate their dedication to maintaining Cal State Fullerton’s athletic facilities at the highest level,” said Brian Quinn, director of athletics.

The stadium was built in 2000 as part of an expansion project of both the baseball and softball facilities. The baseball facility originally was built in 1992, while the softball fields have existed on campus since 1983.

Cal State Fullerton and success in softball have been synonymous since the program was launched in 1980 by Hall of Fame coach Judi Garman. The Titans won the national championship in 1986, and over the years, have won three national Player of the Year awards, six berths in the College World Series, 13 conference championships and 23 post-season appearances.

The Titans annually host two of the most competitive tournaments in the nation: the Worth Invitational and the Judi Garman Classic.
