in Washington D.C.
Political science student assigned to
the staff of Rep. Adam Schiff
(D-Pasadena).
November 15, 2005 :: No. 76
Tiffany Hahn, a Cal State Fullerton
graduate student majoring in political science, is
interning this fall in Washington D.C., as part of the Leon
& Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy’s Congressional
Internship Program.
The Orange resident is assigned to the staff
of Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Pasadena).
Hahn graduated in June from Cal State Fullerton
with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor
in political science. She returned this fall for graduate
study.
She prepared for the internship by completing
an intensive, two-week course at the Panetta Institute on
the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay. The program included
classes on the legislative and administrative structures of
a congressional office, the role of an intern, key California
issues, House leadership and committee roles, the rules and
procedures of debate and law making, the budget and appropriations
process, the role of the press and White House relations with
Congress.
The Panetta program brings together students
from throughout the Cal State University system, as well as
Santa Clara and Dominican universities. The Panetta Institute
sponsors the program and provides a stipend to interns during
their time in Washington D.C.
