New Community Relations
Director Named at Cal State Fullerton
November 9, 2005 :: No. 72
Susan Katsaros, a Cal State Fullerton
alumna and Yorba Linda resident, is the university’s
newly named director of community relations.
A member of the Public Affairs and Government
Relations staff since 1995, Katsaros most recently has coordinated
special events linking the campus and the community, including
town halls and visits to campus by international dignitaries.
She has worked on a variety of joint efforts with local cities,
the county of Orange and chambers of commerce. In addition,
she has conducted media relations, written for various university
publications and served on the marketing team for the university’s
40th anniversary celebration.
In her new role, Katsaros is the university’s
liaison to city councils, the county of Orange, chambers of
commerce and civic organizations. She also is responsible
for developing programs to benefit the community and will
continue to match campus members’ expertise with area
needs.
“Ms. Katsaros brings a wealth of experience
to her new post and has ties to numerous organizations and
leaders in our community,” said Owen Holmes, associate
vice president for public affairs and government relations.
“She has demonstrated an ability for bringing people
together to serve common goals, to build partnerships and
collaborate with others both on and off campus.”
Prior to joining the university staff, Katsaros
was protocol manager for World Cup USA 1994 in Los Angeles
and protocol foundation coordinator at the Orange County Office
of Protocol. A graduate of the Protocol School of Washington,
she is a member of the Junior League of Orange County and
serves on the Marcy Arroues Mulville Memorial Foundation Board
of Directors.
Katsaros holds both an M.P.A. and B.A. in communications/political
science. She succeeds Karon Cornell, now serving as director
of the university’s Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.
