Background: |
Playwright Richard Nelson was born in 1950 on the
south side of Chicago. Fourteen of his plays had already
been produced by the time he graduated from New York’s
Hamilton College in 1972. His works include Bal (a free
adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s Baal), the book
for the musical, Chess, and his most recent play, Madame
Melville, starred Macaulay Culkin in both New York and
London. “In SOME AMERICANS ABROAD, Nelson has
conjured up a funny, witty and biting portrayal of a
group of American academics on a whirlwind theatre tour
of England,” explains director Joseph Arnold.
“He lovingly skewers the passion Americans have
for all things British and that curious decision-making
process that has come to be known as ‘department
politics’.”
Alissa Trevino is the scenic designer, Rebecca Guzzi
is the costume designer, Brianne Levine is the lighting
designer, Megan Evers is the make-up designer, and the
sound designer is John Fisher. |
