Cal State Fullerton’s Orange County AmeriCorps
Alliance is hosting a series of information sessions over
the next two weeks to recruit 100 individuals for a yearlong
service program to assist youth beginning in September. |

Background: |
The Orange County AmeriCorps Alliance (OCAA) is administered
by Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Internships
& Service-Learning. AmeriCorps is a national service
program whose members are committed to helping to address
critical community needs. The goal of the OCAA is to provide
quality after-school programming that benefits youth in
Orange County. |
Activities: |
Participants will have the opportunity to work with
youth in grades K-9 and provide
service as an academic tutor, character education specialist
or physical education specialist. AmeriCorps members will
be placed in various after-school programs
throughout Orange County. |
Services: |
OCAA participants commit to 450 hours of service over
the course of a year and may receive a cash stipend. Upon
the completion of 450 hours of service, participants will
receive a $1,250 education award, which can be used for
school tuition or educational loan repayment. The program
is open to anyone 18 years or older with a high school
education and United States citizenship or permanent residency. |
