Artists, filmmakers and a Vietnamese-American author
launching his book tour will visit the Cal State Fullerton
campus in celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage
Month, which continues through May 4. |

Kristina Wong and filmmakers Craig Yahata and Rhianne
Bergado will highlight the festivities. |

“Our objective is to acquaint people with the
cultural contributions from Asians, as well as contemporary
issues in the Asian-American community,” said Craig
Ihara, coordinator of Asian American studies and professor
of philosophy. |
Highlights: |
April 13 |
3:15 p.m. Quang X. Pham lecture and book
signing at the Golleher Alumni House. Pham
will discuss his memoir, “A Sense of Duty:
My Father, My American Journey,” which describes
his trek from postwar Vietnam and his reunion with
his formerly imprisoned father. This is the public
launch of Pham’s 20-city book tour, and seating
is limited. |

April 14 |
3-5 p.m. Screening of “A Tradition
of Honor.” Craig Yahata will screen
and discuss his documentary film about Japanese-American
soldiers who served during World War II, in the
Ruby Gerontology Center’s Mackey Auditorium. |

April 20 |
10 a.m.-noon. Performance artist Kristina
Wong will speak and perform in the Titan
Student Union’s Titan Theatre, and the Multicultural
Greek Council will sponsor a Tsunami Relief
Carnival in the Quad until 2 p.m. |

April 28 |
Varied times. “A Long Journey of
Courage: The Story of the Vietnamese
People Coming to America” exhibit
opens in the Pollak Library’s Atrium Gallery.
The exhibit will continue through June 20. |

4-5:15 p.m. Screening of “Suspension.”
Rhianne Bergado, Cal State Fullerton alumnus (B.A.
radio/TV/film ’03), will screen and speak
about her short film, in Room 521 of the Humanities-Social
Sciences Building. |

7-8:30 p.m. AmalgamASIANS martial
arts demonstration will include the Taiko Center
of Los Angeles and CSUF Tae Kwon Do in the Titan
Student Union’s Titan Theatre. |
