Inaugural Student Summit
Encourages Students To Become Advocates for Social Justice
Summit will focus on topics ranging from
the civil rights and women’s movements to the environment,
labor and community service.

Members of the community are invited
to participate in Cal State Fullerton’s inaugural Social
Justice Student Summit, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday, April 8, in the Titan Student Union.
Sponsored by the Dean of Students Office and
Volunteer and Service Center, the summit will feature a variety
of guest speakers who will focus on topics ranging from the
civil rights and women’s movements to the environment,
labor and community service. The keynote speaker is Congresswoman
Hilda Solis (D-El Monte).
“We want to open our community’s
eyes to what is going on in the world and, more importantly,
to show students and community members how they can become
involved,” said Sabrina Sanders, coordinator of the
Volunteer and Service Center.
This program is funded by a university Mission
& Goals Initiative, the American Democracy Project, Division
of Student Affairs, Dean of Students Office, Office of Student
Life, Career Center, Center for Internships and Service-Learning,
and Corporation for National & Community Service, under
the Learn & Serve program.
The cost for this program, which includes lunch,
is $5 for students and $10 for community members who register
by March 30. Admission is $15 at the door.
