Four Cal State Fullerton students from the
Theatre and Dance Department will be heading east to compete
and participate in the American College Theatre Festival April
18-24 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Devon Johnson of Pomona, Mai
Sakai of Venice and Matt Schleicher
of Placentia won the top spots in audio, scene and lighting
design, respectively, during the Region VIII festival last
month in Phoenix, Ariz. Orange resident Stephen Wagner captured
the top director honor.
The three design students — who won for
their work on “The Winter’s Tale” —
will compete against finalists from the other seven regions
for the Barbizon Awards for Theatrical Design Excellence.
In addition, they will spend the week working with theater
professionals in workshops.
Wagner also will participate in workshops and
will direct a 10-minute scene that will be presented during
